With a focus particularly on the expression of temporal relations in elicited narratives by bilingual children, comparisons were made with the narratives of monolingual children and adult speakers. Some developmental diﬀerences were noted in the three bilingual children aged 4;6, 6;10, and 8;8, particularly in comparison with the extensive work done on the monolingual English-speaking children reported on in Berman and Slobin (1994). Although the bilingual children did perform like the monolingual children of their respective languages in certain domains, they also seemed to perform diﬀerently from their monolingual peers in other domains.
